The "Social Classes" of the Web
This article is written from my opinions. If you would like to speak to me about my/your opinions, you feel free to contact me.
The First Social Classes
Before the 21st century, we had social classes that were more noticable. There was the "Upper Class," the "Merchants," and the "Labourers." There were also the "Unspeakables," the beggars, the homeless. The Upper Class were those who were wealthy and had servants. The Merchants were the ones who went around selling and buying goods. The Labourers were the servants, those working in the factories, the poor.
The Social Classes of Today
Nowadays, we still have similar social classes. There are the rich, usually snobby people, who make up the "Upper Class." The "Merchants" would be those with an average paying job. The "Labourers" would be those in debt, the ones who have to have several jobs to support their families. The "Unspeakables" would still be the homeless, the beggars.
The Social Classes of the Web
On the Internet, we have social classes, too; the social classes of the web. There are the popular sites, the ones that get at least 100 visitors a day. Then there are the average, mediocre websites, the ones that get a sufficient amount of visitors. There's also the websites that were made by beginners, the ones that get an okay amount of visitors. Lastly, we have the websites that have a slim to none amount of visitors.
Domains, Sub-domains, Freewebs, and Piczo all make up the social classes of the web. When you're surfing the internet, which websites would you say gets more hits? Ususally when I'm surfing the web, I notice that domains tend to get quite a large sum of visitors whereas the Piczo and Freewebs sites don't get quite as much. Why is it that domains are more popular than Freewebs or Piczo? What makes domains better than a site hosted by Freewebs? You could be an amazing, experienced person with a site hosted by Freewebs, or you could be a spoiled rich kid just starting out on the web who wanted a domain. Yet the spoiled rich kid with the domain would probably be the one with more visitors.
